MEDIA conglomerate ABS-CBN reported a 4-percent increase in national television viewership last month, with its weekday and weekend prime-time block delivering strong ratings for the network.
ABS-CBN’s average national audience share for June 2015 reached 47 percent, more than half of which follows prime-time shows broadcast between 6 p.m. and 12 a.m.
The viewership survey was conducted by Kantar Media to 2,609 urban and rural households all over the Philippines. The media research firm, to which ABS-CBN subscribes, reported that the network dominated its competitors in key territories in Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.
Kantar Media said rival network GMA-7 posted a 4-percentage-point decline in national viewership from May’s 36 percent to 32 percent in June. ABS-CBN claimed that GMA lagged behind it in all regions.
ABS-CBN’s weekend evening shows were the network’s top performers, with the second season of singing contest The Voice Kids rating 39.5 percent. It was followed by variety show Your Face Sounds Familiar with 37.2 percent, and drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya with 28.2 percent.
The network also claimed shows on its weekday-evening bloc primetime Bida “remained undisputed,” with Nathaniel raking in 34.9 percent, Pangako Sa’yo with 33.5 percent, Bridges of Love with 22 percent, and Pasion de Amor with 21.2 percent.
ABS-CBN’s livestreaming service iWanTV also delivered for the network, bringing in 74.6 million page views in June, with Pangako Sa’yo, Bridges of Love, Pasion de Amor, and Gandang Gabi Vice being the most-watched TV shows on the platform.
