CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga—Some 8,159 indigents have received the proof of their coverage of socialized health care under Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) and the city government’s new program, dubbed as CSFP’s Philhealth para sa Masa Program, at no cost to the beneficiaries.
City Mayor Edwin D. Santiago, who personally distributed the PhilHealth’s Membership Data Record, said that this is to ensure that the poorest of the poor can avail themselves of hospitalization and other health services.
“This is intended to help our constituents during times of emergencies, the mayor said, adding that the local government unit-operated health facilities are all PhilHealth accredited, which means offering zero-balance scheme.
The mayor told the beneficiaries to just show their PhilHealth member data record for them to avail themselves of the free hospitalization from government hospitals and facilities, as well as the city’s five rural health stations and four birthing stations that are always available to serve the public.
He said that with this benefit, the members have no more reasons not to seek medical assistance, as PhilHealth is ready to pay in full for their hospitalization.
He also noted that through the government’s effort, all senior citizens shall be covered by the National Health Insurance program.
“Once you reach 60 years of age, you are automatically a PhilHealth member,” Santiago said, as he disclosed that registered senior citizens of the city now reached more than 22,000.
