THE country’s infrastructure program recently got a big boost when Espoo, Finland-based Tekla introduced the 3D Concrete Constructible model.
Andy Dickey, CIP concrete business development manager for Tekla, told the journalists that the construction software will give construction companies, engineers and contractors higher efficiency and productivity in their projects. “We offer more effective concrete pour project planning, coordination and control through greater insight and project predictability from pre-construction through execution,” said Dickey in a recent news briefing held in Quezon City. “We are very committed to improving our software as a new way of working for contractors working with concrete. Projects now are done as rapidly using 3D constructible models. With Tekla, everything is sure to fit before building the structure. Some of our clients have already seen a 50-percent reduction in cost and avoided errors on site and working with the other project stakeholders becomes very easy since they can now share their 3D models with anyone,” he added.
He said that the 3D Concrete Constructible Model addresses the challenge of construction companies of managing data by providing the most complete constructible information-management solution thereby enabling the concrete industry to improve its processes and performance. With the 3D component, Dickey said that Tekla users can quickly visualize concrete structures easily and accurately complete with pours, rebar, embeds and formwork, and work more efficiently.
On his part, Romeo Francisco, managing director of Vibrant Technology Solutions Co., stressed that there is an urgent need for the country to develop and train engineers for the Tekla-developed software. “We need a skilled pool of engineers so that the country’s construction industry can really appreciate the value of Tekla technology,” he said.
As a response, Francisco said that Vibrant has formed partnerships with the Mapua Institute of Technology, Central Colleges of the Philippines, Cebu Institute of Technology and the University of San Jose Recolletos-Cebu to train engineering students in Tekla engineering and construction software. Vibrant Solutions Technology Co. is the sole Tekla reseller in the Philippines. The company also provides Tekla Training and Technical Consultant for Tekla Structures. It has 60 companies as clients. Established in 1966, Tekla has customers in over 100 countries. It was acquired by Trimble Navigation Ltd. in 2011.
Tekla is part of Trimble Buildings, a group formed by Trimble to offer hardware, software and services throughout the design-build-operate lifecycle of construction.
