JAJA SANTIAGO will pick her commitment to National University (NU) over club team Foton in case a conflict in schedule arises between the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference and the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Asian Women’s Club Championship.
NU advanced to the V-League semifinals for a chance to defend its crown. The Shakey’s-backed tournament is winding up its quarterfinals stage and its semifinals runs against the September 3 to 11 Asian tournament set at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.
“If there is a conflict in schedule, I will prioritize my commitment with NU,” the 6-foot-5 Santiago said after the Lady Bulldogs beat the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 23-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-19, to sweep the V-League quarterfinals on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena.
“Of course, NU, because it is my alma mater,” added Santiago, who has yet to discuss the possible predicament she will find herself in.
Santiago signed up with Foton for the Biñan tournament as a guest player. She skipped the team’s campaign in the Sealect Tuna Thailand Volleyball League last week in Sisaket, where the team finished sixth place, because of her midterm examinations at NU.
