THE National Police has sacked 21 chiefs of police in Cagayan Valley owing to their alleged dismal performance in the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.
Chief Supt. Gilbert Sosa, acting National Police commander in Cagayan Valley, relieved 11 police commanders from Isabela, six from Cagayan, three from Nueva Vizcaya and one from Quirino province of their posts.

Except for Bringas and Soriano whose relieved took effect on August 23, all other officers were relieved effective August 24.
Sosa said the relief of the police commanders was a part of his effort to strengthen the campaign against illegal drugs in Region 2.
“We will put the best performing officers on post, so that we will meet our target and attain our mission to make Cagayan Valley a drug-free region,” Sosa said.
He said there is a need to meet the six-month deadline set by President Duterte to rid the country of illegal drugs, and policemen in Region 2 should work and double their efforts in order to contribute to the attainment of the mission.
