MARK Cardona has been transferred to the Makati Medical Center on Monday night and his condition is starting to improve, according to NLEX Team Manager Ronald Dulatre.
In a statement released by the Road Warriors management on Wednesday, Dulatre said the 34-year-old Cardona has shown improvement with his condition after his suicide attempt on Sunday.
The former La Salle gunner was rushed to the University of Perpetual Help Hospital in Las Piñas where he stayed at the intensive care unit for a couple of days.
“The condition is improving, but he cannot yet accept visitors as advised by his doctors. We’ll keep you posted on this development,” Dulatre said in a statement.
“For the meantime, let’s continue to pray for his fast recover.”
The Makati Medical Center is one of the companies of Manny V. Pangilinan, who is also the owner of the NLEX team in the Philippine Basketball Association.
Cardona was arrested on Saturday after his live-in partner Bianca Cabildo-Jackes filed a domestic violation complaint to the barangay tanod of Merville Subdivision.
Cabildo-Jackes left their house and brought along with her their two children. According to Cardona’s sister, Rowena, the NLEX player started to feel depression and took a number of prescription pills.
He was found unconscious on Sunday morning and was immediately rushed to the hospital with the help of Parañaque Councilor Binky Favis.
It is not yet known if Cardona, who is on the reserve list of the Road Warriors in the ongoing Governors’ Cup, wanted to take his own life.
