DAVAO CITY—It ain’t over till the fat lady sings, an expression goes. Despite the passage of the hotly debated Reproductive Health (RH) Act in 2012, medical professionals’ ongoing efforts and plans for future initiatives to block the full implementation of the law took center stage during the recent sixth National Annual Doctors For Life Philippines-Family Advocacy in Media Foundation (DFL-Famaf) Joint Convention.
According to Dr. Rene Bullecer, the Philippines country director for Human Life International and a practicing physician, two major groups of doctors “are committed to block the full implementation of the RH law via legal means and to conduct [a] vigorous information drive on the untold medical dangers of the
artificial contraceptives, including its abortifacient effects.” The Catholic Physicians Guild in the Philippines and the DFL, he said, are not just bent on defying the RH law, or Republic Act 10354, but are also gearing up to snuff out plans to resurrect bills to legalize abortion and physician-assisted suicide in the country.
Bullecer, also the DFL vice president, said early on the RH agenda was seriously destabilized with the procurement of a temporary restraining order against all abortifacient artificial family-planning paraphernalia, thanks to the Alliance for the Family Foundation Philippines Inc., specifically lawyer Girlie Noche, who did “an excellent job.”
“This created a major headache to the antilife DOH [Department of Health] hierarchy,” he said.
Show of force
Bullecer said pro-life prayer rallies in key cities nationwide are in the offing.
“I’m sure, all sorts [of] pro-life activism via show of force must be prepared similar to our anti-RH bill efforts in the past,” he added.
A total of 204 paramedical professionals, lay leaders, supporters and religious sisters from all over the country, representing 15 different archdioceses and dioceses, converged in this city to attend the DFL-Famaf event.
Adding color and success to the three-day event was the introduction of a new advocacy group exclusive for women called Josefa. The group’s name was taken from the woman who is considered the Florence Nightingale of the Philippines, a World War II heroine and the foundress of the Girls Scouts of the Philippines, Josefa Llanes Escoda.
Uniting pro-life women
Josefa is open to all pro-life women who wish to participate in various pro-family and pro-life activities designed to celebrate the teachings of the Catholic Church, especially on natural family planning through fertility awareness, as well as on the beauty of family.
The organization is as an alternative women’s group, which will cater to the authentic needs of every Filipina.
Current chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Family and Life-Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), Daet Bishop Gilbert A. Garcera, DD, inducted the officers and members of Josefa as well as the new members of DFL-Famaf. CBCP Vice President Davao Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, DD, was also present at the event.

Life without Quality living is a life of suffering !
Once the church stops its intervention and instead supports the implementation of the RH law, then unintended pregnancies (in all women of productive age) will go down and the number of abortions (500,000 annually) will likewise go down. The church only see the immorality aspect (a moving target since morality standard changes) of birth control but appears to be blind on the reality of premature babies being murdered (always will be a criminal act) by their mothers. The contrast between.responsible partnering against killing babies is as clear as white against black.
PEDOPHILE CONEHEADS still rule the Philippines.
Jose Rizal must be Fuming.
