AFTER almost a decade of entertaining young Filipinos as a member of the Australian pop group Hi-5, fans are sentimental that last December’s House of Dreams at Resort’s World Manila was the last for Stevie Nicholson.
But Nicholson assures his fans there’s no need for tears, as he will return to the Philippines for the world premiere of his colorful book Superdudes.
In one of their mall shows last November, Nicholson said his kiddie fans inspired him to write this. He focused on their dreams and ambitions.
“It revolves around the simple question of what do you want to do when you grow up. Some said I want to be Batman, Superman,” Nicholson added. “I said I want to write a book that encourages their imagination.”
What’s so super about it?
Superdudes is an introduction to a plethora of characters led by Super Stevie and his talented best friend, illustrator Nick “Pirate Pencil” Rudich. It captures the imagination of children in a playful and engaging way, and is based on the philosophy that absolutely anyone and anything can be super.
Nicholson has chosen Manila to play host to the official inauguration of his funny and quirky children’s book. He admits his Filipino fans hold a special place in his heart.
“We’ll be doing lots of shows. I feel fortunate to have developed a lovely relationship with the locals,” Nicholson said. “The Philippines has the best fans in the world. There is no other place in the world I could think of to launch Superdudes than right here.”
The Hi-5 veteran will be travelling across the country from March 25 to April 18, performing in a series of live musical productions featuring some of the heroes inspired by his book. He has drawn on his years of experience touring the world to create an electrifying showcase that will surely capture the imagination of every Filipino.
“’Superdudes’ is more than just the book: it presents children and families an opportunity to connect with someone that a generation has grown up with in a way that they haven’t been able to in the past,” Nicholson added.
“Superdudes” is available in selected bookstores nationwide.
