IT seems we’re still wearing the old year’s rags as only several days passed when we blew the new year inside our door.
We say so because a lot of fashion fads are lingering, which we hope would be replaced with novel ones.
Here are the 13 fads we noticed that cropped up last year:
- The manbun. Lots of girls have been crazy about this since it was revived in 2014 but was taken up by almost Tom Brady, Dick and Harry Styles last year. It works for some but if it doesn’t for you, don’t.
- The man braid. Another revival as men grew tired of their buns and went to learning how to braid their hair. Crazy, isn’t it?
- It seems that men are taking on what appears good for women as we saw them taking on shirts and pants with print.
- Denim button downs. Almost every millennial we knew became crazy for denim last year—from acid wash to pastel colors and ombre. We just can’t get enough of the fabric, it seems.
- Loose pants became in again last year. It seems those who can’t decide between wearing a skirt or comfy pants opted for culottes, women’s knee-length trousers, cut with very full legs to resemble a skirt.
- Polo shirts. These will never fail you. They’re comfortable, semi-formal and they won’t cost you a pretty penny.
- Crop tops. We put up with one of the biggest trends in women’s fashion last year. Crop tops paired with high-waisted pants or shorts and many became Instagram-ready!
- Dress shirts. If a girl doesn’t really want to dress it up too much, this was a good choice. She could still look fab and feel super-comfortable with a simple dress shirt and a few accessories.
- Anything military green. What can we say, from tops, coats, shoes, shorts and pants, this color has ampped up the edgy look last year. Maybe it’s Isis; maybe it’s SAF 44, who knows?
- Eccentric hair colors. Girls everywhere have been dreaming of their “hair goals,” like owning the rainbow look, the gorgeous gray hair, pastel colors and the vivid ombre look. There’s also the blue trend that also spills over to their makeup.
- Sheer and lace. These looks became not for summer, in fact, there have been office workers who we saw also rocked this style last year.
- Ripped jeans. How could we forget the edgy vibe of the ripped jeans. This is a veteran trend that has been around since the 1990s and prbobably won’t go away any time soon.
- Despite it being seen as bland and boring, the black and white fashion trend has been caught quite a lot of attention from trendsetters last year. This classic fad can be chic, glamorous and edgy, depending on what your style is.
And, really, these are all relative to your style and what makes you comfortable.
