BDO, EPCIB boards seal merger plan
 THE long wait is finally over for the Sy group.
           
On Monday, the respective board of directors of Banco de Oro Universal Bank and Equitable PCI Bank Inc. approved the merger plan of the two entities, effecting the largest merger in Philippine banking history.

4 RP cities among best BPO sites
FOUR Philippine cities made it to the Top 15 of the world’s most competitive business process outsourcing (BPO) destinations, according to the study of services globalization adviser NeoIT.
           
The 2006 Global City Competitiveness (GCC) report of the California-based firm had Manila ranked No. 9, while Cebu, Clark, and Davao were listed at No. 13, 14 and 15, respectively.

What’s value of e-commerce?
THE government opened a multisectoral consultation-workshop Monday in preparation for the formulation of a methodology to measure the gross value of e-commerce in the Philippines as well as what comprises its computation.
           
The workshop was under the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) and it presented a proposed definition, framework, and indicators for e-commerce estimation.

In contrast, Filipinos landing in foreign airports had to follow strict quarantine procedures for these items, facing either confiscation or stiff fines.
