    Hunter Douglas promotes green
    building in design competition

HUNTER Douglas, the world leader in window fashions and architectural products, recently launched the EcoArt, EcoBuild, EcoWatch: A Global Awareness by Hunter Douglas design competition.

“This contest is part of the company’s campaign to encourage architects and interior designers to come up with green building solutions through environmentally sound designs.

“It aims to promote global awareness in nature conservation with the help of Hunter Douglas products such as the Green Screen Shades and Luxalon Wood Grain Linear Ceilings, Claddings and Sun Louvre Systems,” said Hunter Douglas president and general manager Gigi M. Lapira.

    Open to professionals and students

The contest is open to professional architects and interior designers who are registered members of these organizations: the United Architects of the Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Architects and the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers.

It is, likewise ,open to architecture and interior-design students who are currently enrolled.

“We want to challenge their creativity in integrating natural resources, human health and community concerns in coming up with cleaner and healthier designs for both occupants and the environment,” Lapira said.

    Design guidelines

Entries should comply with the regulations of the building code and all materials specified in the plans should be feasible.

Window designs should be treated with Hunter Douglas Window Fashion products, while ceiling covering materials should be Luxalon Aluminum ceilings integrating the Wood Grain products.  Luxalon materials may be combined with other ceiling materials only in special designs with faux beam, cove ceiling and drop ceiling.

In line with its theme of “global awareness,” designs should be economical, energy-saving and sustainable.

All entries should be original works wholly executed by the contestants. A contestant can submit entries to all category projects but can only win once.

Contestants should submit the following: original entry form, all drawings and presentation requirements (printouts and soft copies in CD format), affidavit, photocopy of PRC identification card (for professionals) and 2x2 photo.

The deadline for the submission of entries is on February 29, 2008, at 5 pm. Contestants must submit their entries at Hunter Douglas Philippines Inc., ground floor, Jade Place Building, 33 Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.
