Bid4Mobile initiates new online bid scheme

AN Internet-based mobile auction company from Israel and the United Kingdom, Bid4Mobile Ltd., will try to lure the country’s online market of mobile phone retailers, distributors and wholesalers with its “unique lowest bid auction system.”

Instead of giving the products being sold to the highest bidder, the lowest bidder will collectively set the price of large tenders. Bidders can watch their bids in real time and may bid more than once if they see their user names eliminated from the winning circle before the bidding period expires.  Winning bidders will have the units at their doorsteps delivered by Le Soleil International Logistics Co.

“We discovered that retailers worldwide are not benefitting from the power of online market, thus, we run a sophisticated system with low overhead and low margin base for the large communities,” explained Molti Elimelech, president and chief executive officer of Bid4Mobile UK in a speech during one of the company’s road shows held Thursday at Crowne Plaza.

The company will buy handsets in bulk from its supplier alliances Altus Commun2ication and First Asia Mobile Inc. for Nokia and Samsung units, respectively, then auction the units—at a minimum of three to five units and maximum of 100 units at wholesale price. Only brand-new units and accessories are available for bid.

“We are the first to introduce Bid4Mobile in Asia before anyone else does,” Mike Meily, president and chief operating officer of Bid4Mobile Philippines, Inc. told the BusinessMirror. “We expect the market response to be slow at the beginning and a sure thing at a later time.”

Meily added, “We have lined up road shows in major malls and hotels in Metro Manila as a strategic marketing campaign. We believe it’s the perfect time to launch it [Bid4Mobile] after thorough discussions were done last May and June. This is a system that is anchored on convenience, security and transparency.”

Bid4Mobile conforms to the strictest security possible for all its users. It does not allow users to bid if a Union Bank account is inexistent; thus, a buyer who wishes to place a bid must first make out a business check, power check, regular check or open a savings account. For dealers, the company gives credit card payment option for convenience.

“At lowest bidding price, users will be more attracted; plus, members of the global community can have access to mobile manufacturers, distributors and operators as an advantage,” said Elimelech.
