    Del Monte goes for SaaS

AGRIBUSINESS firm Del Monte Philippines Inc. (DMPI) is adopting software-as-a-service (SaaS) to improve business efficiency. It has recently acquired 52 enterprise-user licenses through IP-Converge Data Center Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of publicly listed IPVG Corp. and the Philippine consulting partner of on-demand customer relationship management (CRM) software provider Salesforce.com.

DMPI’s adoption of the CRM solution is part of the company’s thrust to make use of new technologies and solutions in its cost-reduction and productivity-enhancement programs.

IP-Converge officials say they believe that Salesforce.com is an ideal response to the challenges companies are facing to sustain growth and penetrate new markets. “IPVG uses Salesforce software for our businesses—for our call centers, our up-and-coming financial business and for our online gaming concerns,” IP-Converge president Reynaldo Huergas said. “This is, perhaps, the strongest selling point we have for the software.”

“Salesforce.com is delivered over the internet via a subscription-based fee. The applications are highly customizable and can be seamlessly integrated with almost all business functions,” Huergas said. “Another major advantage is that users can access it online; it’s available 24/7.” (Alma A.
