THREE things came out of the tragic yet redeeming event commemorated today. The first was the correct valuation of human life. The second was the possibility of Christian living. And the third, the discovery that people don’t need heroes; they need a reason to become heroes themselves. President Marcos’s brazen murder of Ninoy Aquino, intended to shock and awe the nation into a deeper submission to his rule, on the contrary underscored the necessity of its immediate termination.

A million stand up for Ninoy
