Demolition
time. Despite
coming under attack for its demolition campaign against
squatter colonies, the Metropolitan Manila Development
Authority(MMDA) tears down shanties beside a creek at the
corner of Sen.Gil Puyat Avenue and Marconi Street in
Makati City. The MMDA has said the campaign will prevent
needless death and injury to people living in perilous
areas beside waterways—where they are directly threatened
by floods, and where they can harm others because they
clog waterways with their garbage.
