TO recognize exceptional deeds of drivers of land vehicles, Goodyear launched on Thursday the search for Bayani ng Kalsada.

The annual search, already in its two years, according to Dave Morin, Goodyear president and managing director, is a way to recognize the hardworking and courteous drivers worthy to be emulated as role models.

“We want to honor them and recognize their initiatives in helping other motorists on the road. This is aligned with our commitment to uphold safety as a key corporate value,” Morin said.

This year, Goodyear is again looking for highway heroes under four categories: public utility drivers, taxi/FX drivers, commercial truck/bus drivers, and private drivers.

Each winners will receive a P30,000 cash prize, P500,000 worth of accident insurance, P25,000 worth of gas coupons, P 20,000 worth of SM Home Appliance, a food cart with P500 worth of products, P10,000 worth of training certificate, Revicon Forte gift pack, a plaque, and Bayani ng Kalsada special jacket, cap and T-shirt.

The contest is supported by government agencies such as the Land Transportation Office, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, Department of Communication and Transportation and other private companies.

The announcement of winners will be made next year.
