    Great moments guaranteed

    at Boracay’s OneMGM

    By Tet Andolong

IF one were planning a getaway from the bustling metropolis, one of the perfect places to go to would be Boracay where the sun still smiles even during the rainy days, thanks to its pristine powdery white sand, crystalline waters, great food and the friendliest people.

When there, one of the better establishments is OneMGM near Boat Station 3. A contraction of the phrase “one of my greatest moments,” OneMGM is situated on a 10,000-square-meter property developed into a resort village that boasts of 100 luxurious guest rooms and a world-class spa facility. It is composed of The Country House, The Summer House, The Bougainvilla, The Villas and The Cottages—all in one complex. OneMGM is nestled in natural surroundings. Its wide windows offer a nearly panoramic view of the scenery and some bathroom windows open to private pocket gardens. There are three outdoor swimming pools and a Jacuzzi. Since the hotel reopened under the management of GHPI Resort Inc. in October of last year, countless corporate events, big entertainment spectacles and grand weddings have been held there.

Regular customers of OneMGM represent a healthy mix of foreign and local tourists, mostly couples and honeymooners. About 45 percent are Filipinos, while 45 percent are from South Korea and the Southeast Asian region. Recently, not a few guests have come from as far as Europe and the US.

According to F&B manager Redentor Mikin, OneMGM has something else to be proud of, which is the dining experience to be had at the coffee shop. “Our visitors come back not just for the [ambiance of the] place but for the food we serve here.” OneMGM’s executive chef is none other than Oliver Gadi, whose experience was culled from stints in Europe, the US, as well as the famous Plantation Bay and Waterfront Hotel in Cebu. Gadi’s buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in a manner befitting a European five-star hotel, and his food creations include delectable international fusions. Gadi picks only the freshest seafood, meats and vegetables on the island.

“Our objective is to provide excellent customer service and high customer satisfaction. We want to please our guests and make sure that they get good value for their money. Guests will like everything about OneMGM and think of it as a place where they had one of their greatest moments. That’s our goal,” concludes Mikin.

FOR all its flaws and flagrant flouting of credulity, there’s a certain charm to The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, the sequel to the 2005 hit about four disparate friends who rely on one another—and one pair of artfully faded, studded and bejeweled jeans—to navigate the complexities of young adulthood.
