US firm rolls out POS system
    By Rory Visco
    Correspondent

NEW YORK-BASED ParTech Inc. sees the Philippines as significant market for a portfolio of point-of-sale (POS) systems for the restaurant, hospitality and retail sectors.

ParTech officials, led by Steven Leo, ParTech general manager for Australasia, said the company needs to service the market properly to gain a significant and relevant presence in the Philippine market.

ParTech recently launched PixelPoint POS, a computer-based system that helps restaurants monitor sales, supplies, and other transactions considered vital to operations.  The system is also designed for other retailers, like bars and shops.

“Since we don’t have an office here in the Philippines, the next best thing is to have a good representative agent to work with us, with the product,” Leo said.

The company has appointed HBLM Asia, an information technology solutions provider in the Asia-Pacific, as ParTech’s exclusive distributor in the Philippines.

“In turn, ParTech will do its share of marketing and support the local agent,” Leo added.

Leo also described how PixelPoint POS work, using a restaurant as an example. As customers enter the restaurant, their orders are taken. The maître d’ then feeds the information, like food and drinks, into a computer.

Once the guests reach their table, the drinks they’ve ordered, including appetizers, are already served. “What happened is that the computer used by the maître d’ is connected to a small printer, or display screen, inside the kitchen, where workers prepare the order immediately. That explains the fast service,” Leo explained.

Leo added that PixelPoint POS also keeps track of the bill. Each new item ordered is inputted into the system, and the bill is updated automatically. By the time customers ask for the bill, it’s already prepared.

PixelPoint POS also comes with a complete back office suite that covers inventory control, forecasting, scheduling, sales, labor costs and time recording.

“We believe that restaurants owners nowadays want to monitor their business loosely, but should be able to control costs and at the same time increase profitability. From a PixelPoint POS perspective, we know that the system is a perfect fit for the restaurant industry here because of several qualities: reliability, flexibility, affordability and ease of use,” Leo said.

Strategic Brands Network is one of the first companies to have adopted the system.
