In your pocket. With the Nokia E90, your office may as well be in your pocket.

    Your Virtual Office

FOR Alberto Villarosa, president and CEO of Security Bank Corp., downtime is never the time to keep your eye off the ball, especially now when he’s mobilizing a five-year plan to position the company for a stronger market presence. He may be on the road between appointments or stuck in a traffic gridlock, but he manages to stay on top with his powerful Nokia E90, the latest in the Finnish company’s Communicator series that has tech geeks buzzing and corporate honchos drooling.

“Nokia E90 is a virtual office that fits in the palm of my hands. It’s like taking my office with me everywhere I go. Being Blackberry-enabled, I can easily respond to e-mails needing my immediate attention and, conversely, send out instructions even when I am on the move,” he says. “I can seamlessly open important files, edit them and send the same to the office. It has 128MB of memory free to the user, and user memory is expandable via a microSD memory card slot, allowing for greater storage capacity for huge files that can be easily transferred to my office computer.”

When he drops by at any of the bank’s 100-plus branches for a surprise visit, he is armed with all the relevant information he needs, including something as simple, yet vital, as the name of the manager. Like all smart business leaders, Villarosa knows the value of the personal touch. He even schedules his phone to send out birthday greetings to his employees at the first minute of the red-letter day.

Unfortunately for some of them, though, work does not end when the weekend begins. “My people have gotten used to receiving e-mails from me from home early morning and late evening on a Saturday, as I do my regular weekend review of business items needing updates and follow-throughs. I can imagine my people are probably longing for the Jurassic phones as a result,” he reveals, grinning.

The E90 also supports other e-mail solutions aside from BlackBerry Connect—Nokia Intellisync Wireless E-mail, Mail for Exchange and the most popular consumer e-mail solutions, like those from Yahoo and Google.

Beyond managing e-mails and documents, this third-generation, 210-gram wireless wonder packs more than enough features to please any multitasking taskmaster. Browsing the Internet and downloading files and applications become a cinch through WLAN, HSDPA and 3G high-speed broadband connectivity. Equipped with the Symbian OS S60 platform—the leading software that makes smartphones smart—and a large inner screen capable of displaying 800x352 pixels at 16 million true colors, the E90 lets you view an entire Web page at a single glance without fumbling for the scroll button.

The formidable S60 can run several applications at the same time, including WorldMate, “the Swiss Army knife of travel service applications.” This downloadable software keeps the frequent traveler updated on flight status, weather forecasts and currency-exchange rates. A most useful tool for somebody like Architect Felino Palafox, whose extensive overseas projects in 25 countries has the master planner for Ayala Heights, SM Malls and Rockwell Center crossing time zones practically every month. The quad-band GSM automatically switches between bands and lets him talk in any continent his work might take him to. Two built-in cameras are also at his disposal—one to capture images up to 3.2 megapixels, the other to conduct urgent video conferences. Intuitively designed, the E90 is “easy to use,“ he says. “I don’t need to sit down and study the manual.”

If there’s any studying to be done, it’s with the aid of the phone’s integrated GPS, the busy exec’s navigating partner for locating meeting venues, restaurants and other places of interest.

The  E90 arms the corporate warrior with Nokia Intellisync Mobile Suite 8.0, Quickoffice tools and Download! Application for accessing other solutions that will increase productivity and provide him a competitive advantage. The palm-size business tool also delivers plenty of voice features, from voice dialing to recording to issuing commands for menu, profiles and keypad lock.  When the mobile magnate needs a short break, he can always tap the phone’s multimedia functions—Realplayer for streaming audio, video and MP4 video files; an MP3 music player, even an FM radio.

That’s a lot of muscle for a sleek 132x57x20mm device.

“We are responding to the growing requirements of business customers,” says Nokia Philippines general manager William Hamilton-Whyte. “The E90 will exceed their expectations and deliver an uncompromised experience.”

Already, it is changing the way people do business.
