CEBU CITY—Microtel Philippines is soon to open its eighth and
biggest hotel in the country in Mactan, Cebu, and it
hopes to tap into the midmarket segment of the island’s
vast tourism sector.
Grand
Benedicto, president of Enrison Land Inc., the owner of
Microtel Inns and Suites Cebu, said they want to offer
first-class amenities to tourists at a more affordable
price.
“We
noticed that after the first-class hotels, there is just
the cheap accommodations. We want to tap this middle
market which is looking for great amenities at a very
affordable price,” Benedicto said.
Microtel
Cebu will have 163 rooms spread over a
5,000-square-meter property in Punta Engaño. Enrison
Land has invested P300 million on the development.
The
hotel is set to have a soft opening by August or
September and a full opening by the ened of 2008.
Benedicto, however, said that while they are a Microtel
hotel, they have made several improvisations to bring
the brand into a whole new level.
“We are
a hip hotel inspired by retro designs,” Benedicto said.
“We are a Microtel but in many ways, we are a special
Microtel hotel.”
The
seven-story building forms an L facing the great
panoramic view of Hilutungan Channel and a pristine
50-meter-wide beachfront.
Microtel
is the first real-estate project of The Enrison Group,
which already has interests in export furniture, cement
and other industries in Cebu.
Microtel
has over 300 hotels worldwide. |
