WATER
has always been a vital component of the internal
combustion engine. Engineers have always used it as a
cooling agent by making it flow in and around the engine
block.
But did
you know that in the old days, water was actually used
in the fuel combustion cycle of an engine? Old warplane
engines used this not only to cool down their combustion
chambers faster but also to raise their power.
Today,
with the growing demand for a technology designed to
bring fuel costs down, Speedlab has introduced a system
that uses both water and alcohol to cool down and
enhance the fuel efficiency of any engine.

Known as
the Devil’s Own, this water and alcohol injection system
from the United States adds oxygen to the combustion
process as well as significantly cooling the combustion
chambers.
This
old, little-known but rediscovered process allows for a
complete burning of fuel and decreases exhaust gas
temperatures which, in turn, reduces the emission of
harmful nitrogen (NOx), hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon
monoxide.
The
system works by spraying fine droplets of a
water-and-alcohol mixture into an engine’s intake to
remove carbon deposits from the engine and to increase
fuel efficiency.

“We can
use water or any off-the-shelf alcohol drink and pour it
into our specially engineered pump and nozzle injection
device. This technology is nothing new and, in fact, has
been around since the 1900s and is a time-honored way to
reduce inlet temperatures and keep detonation at bay,
making any gas or diesel engine cleaner and less
polluting,” explains Bilal Muhammad, president of
Devil’s Own, the company that produces the product.
Water is
a normal part of the combustion process and injecting
proper amounts of water and alcohol in accurate delivery
time has been proven to have no downsides. The immediate
effect of the gadget is a cleaner fuel burn, cleaner
emission, increased fuel efficiency and a little more
horsepower.
