But like Vic, John Lloyd exudes a persona that is so humble and so likable, with nary a whiff of egotism. He recently celebrated his birthday in the company of orphans, spending an entire afternoon with the kids.

So tell me about your experience with the orphans.

It was very touching. A very powerful experience, actually. God gave me and is giving me so much blessings that the least I can do is share them.

Speaking of blessings, you’ve been given the Box-Office King award, with your reel partner Bea Alonzo as the Box-Office Queen.

Yes. I’m really very thankful for that. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported our TV shows and our movies, particularly One More Chance.

Did you know that the movie would be such a big hit?

When we were doing it, I knew it would be a very special movie. Something that a lot of people will enjoy and be able to relate to. But to be this huge? Wow! All I know is that all of us involved in the movie worked extra hard, and it makes all of us smile how people were very receptive to it.

What can you say about dethroning bossing Vic Sotto.

Really? Wow! I mean, we never made it our goal to remove someone from something....Wow....But he received the All-Time Box-Office Actor award. That’s more than what I got!

What about your Best Actor award from Enpress? Tell me about it.

That’s another bonus for all our hard work. I can never thank the Entertainment Press enough for patting me on the back.

You’re now being paired with Sarah Geronimo, meaning you’ll be trying out another love team.

Sarah is a very nice girl and very easy to work with. I can’t wait for the shooting to end and see the result of all our efforts because we’re having fun doing the movie.

That’s great. How’s your girlfriend Liz (Uy)? How’s your relationship with her?

    Going more mature.

Any marriage plans? Your friends Judy Ann (Santos) and Ryan (Agoncillo) just confirmed their engagement.

None. We’re both busy and we both have our careers to prioritize. We have to fulfill a lot of things.

Are things going smoothly between the two of you? Some people insist that your relationship is plagued with problems.

No, that’s not true. Everything is fine between us but I have to admit that, like all ordinary couples, we do have our fights.

    What do you fight about?

Mostly time. She’s busy, I’m busy. We don’t have any particular day when we meet and hang out, but at least we make it a point to do so. But what’s keeping us strong is that while we both know we prioritize our career, we know that we prioritize our relationship, too.

    Is she the jealous type?

    No.

    Are you?

Yes. But Liz doesn’t give me any reason to be so.

Cooks: Feeling chilly or feeling crabby?

JUST this Sunday after the storm, my husband Bob and I stopped at the fresh seafood Dampa “mall” along Macapagal Avenue. He was craving for fresh, fat, satiny-fleshed, luscious oysters. No less than 20 or more oysters were dedicated to his want, while I tackled my choice seafood and had them done at Master Cook, one of the biggest pa-luto restaurants in the cluster.

    Exercise your tongue

Communication matters, effective communication that is. With the Philippines embracing a global culture, many foreigners are stepping into sight. Enter any mall to witness the variety: to your left a bunch of trigger-happy Koreans; on your right a brisk-walking American; behind you a busy group of Chinese; and fast approaching is a tall French man about to ask for directions while tagging along his pretty French girlfriend.
