    THE Franklin MWD-1490 electronic dictionary

IN the Internet generation, looking for the definition of a word is just a few clicks away. That may seem easy, but in reality, we are not always in front of a computer monitor. And whether we’re students or professionals, it pays to know just the right word to use—its definition, spelling or application. Technology has further innovated the dictionary and thesaurus.

Electronic dictionaries have revolutionized learning and now come in the form of a handy electronic pocket dictionary, which allows students and professionals to spend more time reading and writing rather than searching for a definition of a word in a thick dictionary or thesaurus.

“Electronic dictionaries offer an enhanced and unparalleled learning experience. With instant phonetic spelling correction, students can type ‘nolige’ and the e-dictionary will automatically correct to ‘knowledge.’ Once the definition of a particular word is clear, the whole subject matter becomes clear, too,” said Brian Gonzales of Infomax, distributor of leading electronic brands Franklin and Seiko dictionaries in the country.

In the advent of iPods, cell phones and various gadgets for entertainment and lifestyle enhancement, the education field took into consideration the need for a gadget for learning, specifically one that can also promote independent learning. For one, the Franklin MWD-1490 Merriam-Webster Dictionary and Thesaurus with Comprehensive Reference Set not only makes writing and research easier, but also improves overall knowledge with various features available in its compact size.

The Franklin MWD-1490 comes with over 300,000 full definitions and a thesaurus of 500,000 synonyms and antonyms from the world-renowned dictionary publisher. How’s that for improving your vocabulary base? Add to that a geographical dictionary which gives up-to-date information about the world’s key cities and countries, and a biographical dictionary which provides quick answers about the world’s most influential personalities. There’s also a guide to punctuation and style, a grammar guide and a Five Language Translator which includes English, Italian, German, French and Spanish. Muy bien!

The other electronic dictionaries and references available from Infomax include the Franklin MWD-460, or the Merriam-Webster Dictionary & Thesaurus with Spell Correction; the affordable Seiko WP-5600 packed with 70,000 entry words from the American Heritage Dictionary, eight word games, a calculator and many other features; and the Seiko Oxford electronic reference units fully approved by the prestigious Oxford University Press. All are available in most National Book Store outlets.
