    Petron launches ethanol-
    mixed gasoline variant

Petron Corp. recently launched its new Petron E10 Premium, an especially formulated unleaded gasoline that meets and exceeds the requirements of the Philippine Biofuels Law. Petron E10 premium contains 10-percent fuel-grade ethanol and 90-percent premium unleaded gasoline with an enhanced fuel additive that cleans engine deposits to deliver improved performance and fuel economy.

The new gasoline variant burns efficiently and significantly reduces unburned hydrocarbons and other unwanted emissions that contribute to air pollution and global warming.

Petron Reseller general manager, Ramon del Rosario, said in a statement that “Petron E10 Premium uses fuel-grade ethanol, which the Philippines will soon be capable of manufacturing. Local ethanol production would provide more employment opportunities among our countrymen. At a time when fuel prices are at an all-time high, consumers will appreciate that Petron E10 Premium is cheaper than regular unleaded gasoline by about P2 per liter.”

Petron Technical general manager, Willy Toledo, said, “Petron E10 Premium may be used in most fuel-injected vehicles, whether old or new, without the need for expensive engine modification. However, we do recommend that first-time users consult their car manual or car dealer.”

Petron E10 Premium may be mixed with other unleaded gasoline at any time, except for carbureted vehicles. It is also safe to mix the new gasoline variant with other E10 fuel brands.

However to maximize the benefits, consistent use of Petron E10 Premium is recommended as its special formulation is designed to deliver better performance, enhanced fuel economy and reduced tail pipe emissions.

Some four-stroke motorcycle models are already designed to be bio-ethanol-compatible.  However, with the large range of motorcycle models and variants in the local market, it is best to consult with the manufacturers or dealers regarding compatibility of particular motorcycle engines.

Although Petron E10 Premium is initially available in 14 stations in Metro Manila, there are plans to introduce Petron E10 Premium at additional service stations to serve more motorists.  At present, Petron E10 Premium is offered at the following Petron service stations:  Visayas Avenue and Quezon Avenue in Quezon City; Shaw Boulevard and Marcos Highway (east- and west-bound) in Pasig City; Boni Avenue in Mandaluyong; San Marcelino and Osmeña Highway in Manila; Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City; Dr. Santos Avenue and West Service Road in Parañaque; Circumferential Road in Antipolo; and Ortigas Extension in Taytay.

The Corporate Corner: Corporate management under exceptional circumstances or situations

Almost universally, the management of a corporation is vested by  general statute or charter provision on the board of directors or trustees. In such case, the powers so vested on the directors must be exercised by them, and cannot be exercised by the stockholders (5 Fletcher, Cyc. Corp., 1976 rev. vol., sec. 2097, at 401).
