Enterprise software developer, Oracle Corp. recently released the newest version of its retail software suite, Retail Release 13.

Dubbed by the company as the world’s most complete and integrated suite of software application for insight-driven retailing, Retail Release 13 was developed in response to the dramatic transformation currently happening in the retail industry.

“The retail landscape is transforming such that traditional avenues of value creation alone are no longer viable,” said Duncan Angove, general manager and senior vice president, Oracle Retail said in a statement.

He added that: “To survive, retailers must find new approaches to grow and to increase shareholder value.”

According to the company, Retail Release 13 is the result of strategic acquisitions of best-of-breed applications as well as its long-term vision in aiding retailers in key segments including fashion, grocery and hard-lines to drive more profitable customer relationships.

A new feature is the inclusion of a regular price optimization feature which completes the full-life cycle price optimization suite to deliver enhanced margin, sales and customer-centric pricing.

Another addition is a merchant workspace feature that provides Oracle Retail Release 13 users with single sign-on, dashboard and reporting capabilities across solutions.  Its wholesale functionality capabilities enable retailers with a new channel opportunity to grow market share by selling products to other businesses.

For retailers growing their business internationally, global performance capabilities will include “Multiple Sets of Books” functionality and stock ledger value-added tax enhancements.

The software’s advanced security features will enhance user-activity logging and secure implementation documentation to help protect customer information.

The Corporate Corner: Corporate management under exceptional circumstances or situations

Almost universally, the management of a corporation is vested by  general statute or charter provision on the board of directors or trustees. In such case, the powers so vested on the directors must be exercised by them, and cannot be exercised by the stockholders (5 Fletcher, Cyc. Corp., 1976 rev. vol., sec. 2097, at 401).
