WHEN a
young girl experiences her first menstruation, the only
person whom she can count on to see her through that
turning point in her life is her mom. Knowing that mom
is always there to provide her with guidance on personal
hygiene, the birds and the bees, as well as what to
expect as she matures, gives her reassurance and
confidence as she approaches adulthood.
When the
girl finally grows up, marries and is about to become a
mother, she is confronted with another fear of the
unknown. She asks herself: “Am I ready to be a mother?”
After all, she will be faced with the responsibility of
nurturing her baby from the moment he or she is born.
Simple things like knowing how to bathe that very
delicate body, hold that limp head or sanitize the
umbilical cord area are challenging, even daunting tasks
for a new mom.
Many
young moms wish that there’s instruction readily
available to prepare them for all that, as it would
certainly make motherhood a joy from the very start.
Luckily,
Johnson’s Baby has developed a baby-ready school.
Through the help of expert neonatologists (experts on
the most complex and high-risk situations, especially if
the newborn is premature, or has a serious illness,
injury, or birth defect), pediatricians and midwives,
Johnson’s Baby will present a series of fun, informative
and interactive workshops for pregnant moms, which will
educate and assist moms in the basic concerns of infant
skin care.
The
Johnson’s
Baby Ready School
and Newborn Care Protocol will be introduced to a total
of 3,000 moms from 15 barangays in the country. Proper
bathing techniques—an important aspect in taking care of
one’s baby—will be presented with the use of Johnson’s
Baby Top-to-Toe Wash. Johnson’s Baby’s popular Touch
Therapy (or infant massage) will be demonstrated using
Johnson’s Baby Oil. Resource speakers will tackle proper
infant skin care, moisturization, diaper change,
breast-feeding and “kangaroo” mother care, as well.
The
sessions will be informal and will allow moms to consult
with medical experts. As a treat, moms will receive a
Johnson’s Baby Top-to-Toe Wash Newborn Kit, which will
provide them with the necessary skin-care information
and products to use on their delicate newborns. The kit
contains a 16-page Newborn Care Guide, which is a
handbook of the information they will learn in school.
They will also receive a set of Johnson’s Baby Oil,
Lotion, Skin Protection Powder, Wipes and Buds.
Moms who
cannot attend the
Baby Ready School
can also learn by texting “BABY” to 2366 to get weekly
baby-care tips, or through the Top-to-Toe Wash Baby
Ready web site at
http://www.babycenter.com. From June onward, the
Johnson’s Baby
Top-to-Toe
Wash Newborn Kit will be available in selected
supermarkets, drugstores and department stores for only
P96. The kit includes Johnson’s Baby
Top-to-Toe Wash 100 ml, Baby Oil 50 ml, Rich & Creamy Lotion 50 ml, Skin
Protection Powder 50 g, and free Johnson’s Buds and the
Newborn Care Guide. That’s a good P20 in savings.
For over
100 years, Johnson’s Baby has been dedicated to helping
parents around the world give their babies a healthy and
happy start in life. With Johnson’s Baby Top-to-Toe Wash
and Johnson’s Baby Ready School, moms are equipped with
products of clinically proven mildness along with the
best information and knowledge of proper infant care for
their babies’ exceptional health and growth.
Alongside the
Baby Ready School,
Johnson & Johnson partnered with the local medical
experts in newborn and infant care to put together a
newborn-care protocol for both health-care providers and
mothers on the standards in perinatal and neonatal care.
According to Dr. Socorro Mendoza of the Philippine
Society of Newborn Medicine, “The Newborn Care Protocol
not only covers topics such as general newborn
assessment, immunization, nutrition and preventive
pediatric health care, but also the commonly left-out
recommendations like breast-feeding, ‘kangaroo’
mother-care, and touch therapy.”
