  • Lady Falcons down CSB, look for sweep

Adamson played just good enough to hold off Saint Benilde, 25-21, 25-20, 25-22, and move with a win from completing a 10-game sweep of the eliminations in the Shakey’s V-League Season Five yesterday at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Falcons, heading for a three-week break with the San Sebastian Stags for clinching the two outright semis berths, sized up the Blazers in each set before asserting their might on the net at the finish to complete the romp in slightly over an hour.

Rizza Laguilles made 12 kills, while guest player Neriza Bautista had 11, as the Falcons outhit Saint Benilde’s top two spikers in Giza Yumang and Cindy Velasquez, who combined for 12 attacks.

While Adamson notched its ninth-straight win in the league sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and organized by Sports Vision, Saint Benilde took its ninth-straight defeat.

Still, the Blazers are looking forward to dishing out better games in the quarterfinals of the event backed by Active White skin-whitening products, Mail and More, ICT Call Center, 100Plus Energy, Mikasa and Accel.

The quarters, featuring Ateneo, Lyceum, Far Eastern U and Saint Benilde, starts Sunday with two provincial teams in University of San Jose-Recoletos and the University of Saint La Salle-Bacolod joining the hunt for the other two semis berths.

Adamson and San Sebastian, meanwhile, will take a long rest and will see action in the semis, where they would be joined by the top-two finishers in the single round robin quarters.
