BY the
time you read this, the Toyota Magical Mystery Tour
(which is Toyota’s theme for its RoadTrek 2008, a
four-day, fun-filled island-hopping excitement for the
members of the media) is already ongoing.
The
BusinessMirror is represented by this writer, together
with our motoring editor Popong Andolong, Ira Panganiban
and Al Mendoza, in this annual friendly competition
among motoring journalists sponsored by Toyota Motors
Philippines Corp.
But
Toyota had already started the ball rolling late last
week as members of the media, as well as Toyota dealers
and customers, got a big “ticket to ride” on April 11,
when it held the Altis Cup at the well-manicured Santa
Elena Golf and Country Club. Since it is one of the
must-see, by-invitation-only golfing events in town,
various personalities were present and so were the
serious media golfers, too. Our big bosses—Anton
Cabangon (who won a brand-new driver after winning the
longest drive award) and Ricky Alegre—were there, too,
and they were really terrific on and off the greens, I
tell you.
Food and
drinks at the clubhouse were flowing before and after
the game, and so were the prizes during the awarding
ceremonies that were hosted by no less than Anthony
Suntay and Tessa Prieto. Champions and winners in the
various categories and fun holes went home smiling with
their trophies and gift certificates worth five digits,
while members of the media (a number of press and
broadcast media were present) and several invited
customers splurged on the various prizes amounting to
more than P1 million that were raffled off.
BusinessMirror officers and staffers were all big
winners, as motoring editor Popong Andolong went home
with a 42-inch plasma wall television, while Ricky
Alegre and golf editor Mike Besa went home with a Mac
laptop each. Boss Anton bagged a wonderful speaker
system, aside from a very nice brand-new driver (for
winning the longest drive, huh!), while I and Al Mendoza
settled for an 8-GB iPod Nano. Not bad for a half-day
workout on the fairways, huh!
Toyota
president Hiroshi Ito, who also plays a mean game,
thanked all the participants and stayed to receive his
trophy. Other Toyota officials present were executive
vice president for marketing Yugi Goto, first vice
president Danny Isla, vice president for marketing
Raymond Rodriguez (who is a very accommodating and
enjoyable flight-mate), vice president for corporate
planning Atty. Rommel Gutierrez, vice president for
marketing Jing Atienza, AVP for vehicle sales Sherwin
Chua-Lim, and others such as Kaizen Hiroyuki Tsuda and
Oshima Motonori. Thanks again for such a great day of
golf!
We will
surely give details of the ongoing Toyota Magical
Mystery Tour as soon as we hit Manila this weekend.

THERE’S
a revolutionary technology that prevents body pain
through noninvasive ways, which was introduced to the
local market recently and could be beneficial to the
motorists who drive on long hauls.
The
local distributor of the Phiten products that are now
very popular in the market revealed that a popular
Formula One racing driver is now being fitted with
various garments and gears that use its unique and
revolutionary technology.
Ronaldo
Colmenar, the general manager of Seemi, the exclusive
distributor of Phiten products in the country, disclosed
that the Phild Process embedded in all Phiten products
“aims to help maintain the body’s natural state of
balance which is easily disrupted by today’s busy
lifestyle.” The process, introduced by Yoshihiro Hirata
in Japan, uses carbonized water-soluble forms of
titanium, gold and silver in the fiber and fabric of its
products to create Aquametal.
He added
that there are many international and even local
celebrities who are already using their products and now
enjoy various benefits, such as the relief of shoulder
stiffness, back pains and/or any muscle pains, the
prevention of fatigue and injury by relaxing the muscles
so they gain some degree of flexibility; and the
enhancement of physical abilities and sustained energy
levels throughout the day.
Examples
of the various Phiten products that are already in the
market are Rakuwa sports necklaces, golf necklaces,
bracelets, sports bracelets, baseball sliding necklaces
and air necklaces, Aquatitan belts, metal pads, car
guards, supporters and many others.
Philten
products are now available in selected Planet Sports,
The Athlete’s Foot and Toby’s Stores and are “priced on
a par or even lower than those in other countries other
than Japan. We were surprised with the popularity of our
products among the A and B crowd, since our volume of
sales last December has been duplicated by that of last
month. And we have been receiving so many inquiries
lately,” he added. |
