    Instant fame with a smile

THE global dental-hygiene brand Colgate recently announced its nationwide search for the newest Colgate Fresh Confidence star at the dance club Embassy in The Fort.

“Ikaw na ba ang Next Fresh Confidence Star?” is the title of the search wherein the winner will not only star in the next Colgate Fresh Confidence TV commercial, but will also win a P100,000 tax-free cash prize. Male or female aspirants only need to experience the intense feeling of freshness after brushing with any variant of Colgate Fresh Confidence with Cooling Crystals and interpret that intense, fresh feeling by making a music video.

ARE you on your way to becoming the next star?

The video should not be more than four minutes long and should be in .AVI, .MPEG, .FLV or cellphone video capture format. To complete the entry, the aspirant must upload the music video to www.colgatefreshconfidence.ph. Entrants can lip-sync to the Colgate Fresh Confidence with Cooling Crystals TVC soundtrack “Akin Ka Na Lang” by Ichyworms, or create their own rendition of the song, which can be downloaded either from the web site or from other sources. Interpretations of the song must depict Fresh & Intense, Cool & Upbeat—the qualities of any Colgate Fresh Confidence star. The deadline for submission of entries is May 31 at 11:59 pm. During the launch of the contest, the journalists including this writer were made to lip-sync to the soundtrack “Akin Ka Na Lang” in order to feel what it’s like to be a contestant.

The promotion is open to all residents of the Philippines aged 13 and above. Children below 18 years of age must download a waiver and parental consent form from the web site, which must be completed and signed by the parent or legal guardian.  The completed and signed waiver and parental form must be sent to Colgate-Palmolive Philippines Inc.

From the uploaded videos, 50 semifinalists will be chosen based on an online-voting system where consumers will get to vote for their favorite music video as many times as they want. Uploading of videos is ongoing until May 31, and any entrant can upload as many different video entries as he or she wants for a better chance of qualifying as a semifinalist.

Aspirants may visit and register at www.colgatefreshconfidence.ph, then upload the final video for a fighting chance at instant stardom. One will not be able to register and submit his or her music video without agreeing to the terms and conditions governing the use of the web site.

An aspirant may submit as many entries as he or she would like within the promotion period to have a better chance of qualifying as a finalist. The criterion for choosing the winner is 25-percent originality, 50-percent depiction of intense freshness and 25-percent overall appeal.

After creating bright smiles for 200 years, Colgate is still the No. 1 toothpaste worldwide. In the Philippines Colgate started in 1926 as a small sales organization known as the Palmolive Co. in Barraca Street in Binondo.

Colgate Fresh Confidence with Cooling Crystals is a state-of-the-art toothpaste that provides a new dimension of freshness. It is packed with cooling crystals that dissolve instantly as you brush. It releases an incredible rush of breath-freshening power and comes in five variants, namely, Spicy Fresh, Peppermint Ice, Kool Menthol Fresh, Lemon Freeze and Applemint Fresh.

The announcement of winners will be made in June 2008. Visit www.colgatefreshconfidence.ph for more information and the full mechanics of the search.
