UNINTERRUPTIBLE power supply (UPS) maker APC yesterday
said it is now offering MGE Galaxy 7000 compact and
high-efficiency UPS units as part of its product range
in the Philippines.
This
product offering makes available to enterprise-level
consumers “high levels efficiency-power protection for
information technology [IT] and other mission-critical
equipment,” APC said in a statement.
MGE
Galaxy 7000, the enterprise-level power supply solution
unit, has a “digital design coupled with a comprehensive
range of options” which “enable the new UPS to be fully
adopted for use in a range of applications—from large
data centers to industrial and manufacturing
operations.”
For
data-center applications, the MGE Galaxy 7000 “meets the
combined need for high levels of power availability and
runtime in a small footprint,” the APC data sheet said,
measuring about two meters wide, two meters deep and a
meter and a half high. It can also “support a power load
of 250 kVA to 500 kVA and provide up to two hours of
autonomy in the event of a mains power failure.”
The UPS
unit’s small footprint provides more room for other
data-center equipment than traditional UPS systems and
it can be upgraded to ensure available and secure power
infrastructure for future growth.
The MGE
Galaxy 7000 also boasts of a 94-percent power efficiency
rating in double conversion mode—power efficiency that
can be boosted to 97 percent if the unit is put in
economy mode to reduce power wastage and operating
expenses.
Its
standard features include new, transformer less UPS
topology, a built-in static switch and maintenance
bypass, plus an IGBT rectifier with power factor
correction for low-input current total harmonic
distortion. It also features cold-start, soft-start,
walk-in charger and inrush charger limit features that
make it compatible with generator sets.
Besides
ensuring the security of its users’ power supply, the
MGE Galaxy 7000 ensures the full redundancy of its
cooling system to provide a high level of reliability.
It also supports paralleling for power upgrades or
additional redundancy and can be integrated into a
variety of high-availability architectures.
The
newest APC UPS was designed for ease of installation and
maintenance, with all its connectors and switches
incorporated into or accessible from the front of the
new system. It is also comes out of the factory ready
for connection to all standard earthing arrangements.
To
ensure available runtime and maximum battery life, the
MGE Galaxy 7000 comes with APC’s Lifecycle Monitoring,
which makes use of Digibat programmable battery
monitoring technology that automatically tests battery
levels at specified intervals without requiring users to
discharge the batteries.
APC
clients also have the option to add Cellwatch or B2000
utilities to provide continuous checking for each
battery block to provide early warning against battery
failure and promote proactive maintenance for more
system uptime.
The new
UPS unit is compatible with APC’s remote management
tools and can easily be monitored and controlled from
anywhere on a user’s network. It is also compatible with
Ethernet and other communications protocols such as
J-Bus, Mod-Bus and relay contacts. For safe, local and
manual management, the MGE Galaxy 7000 has a
high-definition front-panel display with an intuitive
human-machine graphical interface.
APC
merged with MGE UPS systems in February last year to
form the $3.5-billion critical power and cooling
services business unit of Schneider Electric. |
