  • Adamson vs. slumping Benilde

STREAKING Adamson hopes to chalk up another win as it collides with a slumping St. Benilde side Friday, while San Sebastian College (SSC) tries to bounce back against Far Eastern University (FEU) in the Shakey’s V-League Season 5 at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Falcons swept their first three games in the early going of the double-round eliminations, including a stunning 25-22, 25-21, 25-23 triumph over the fancied Lady Stags on Tuesday, which gave the San Marcelino-based tossers the solo lead in the six-team field.

Ranged against a winless squad, Adamson coach Dulce Pante is expected to use new combinations in their 4 p.m. encounter with the Blazers in an attempt to further improve their already formidable rotation.

The Lady Falcons, runners-up to the FEU Tams in the recent University Athletic Association of the Philippines finals, are enjoying top form with guest player Neriza Bautista complementing well with mainstays Angela Benting, Michelle Segodine, Rissa Laguilles and Janet Serafica, along with Jacqueline So, Lizlee Gata, Jill Gustilo, Princess Sa-ayo, Marie Ramos and Jennifer Hiponia.

In contrast, the newcomer Blazers have dropped their first three games, including a 25-13, 25-17, 25-22 setback to Ateneo last week to trail the field in the tournament sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and organized by Sports Vision.

But the one-week rest should give St. Benilde the time to adjust and study its rivals, with Doreen Sanchez, Katty Kwan, Giza Yumang, Joy Mulingtapang and guest player Lilet Mabbayad out to come out strong and spring a surprise against the unbeaten Falcons.

Meanwhile, the Lady Stags try to recover lost grounds as they battle the equally tough Lady Tams in the 2 p.m. opener of the league backed by Active White skin-whitening products, Mail and More, ICT Call Center, Mikasa and Accel.

Meanwhile, the SSC-FEU game will be aired tomorrow at 2 p.m. on NBN 4, while the Adamson-St. Benilde clash will be telecast on Sunday. For details, log on at www.v-league.ph.

    Standings: Adamson 3-0, Ateneo 3-1, San Sebastian 2-1, FEU 1-2, Lyceum1-3, St. Benlide 0-3.
