    By Honey Madrilejos-Reyes
    Reporter

TEN brokers are vying for the six seats in the board of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) this year.

Those who made the official list of candidates were Ismael Cruz, Eduardo Francisco, Ramon C. Garcia Jr., Eddie Gobing, Joseph Y. Roxas, Alejandro Yu, David Chua, Vivian Yuchengco, Ramon T. Garcia, and Eusebio Tanco.

Former PSE chairman Robert Coyuito Jr., a constant fixture in the board, was not nominated in this year’s election.

For the nonbroker category, the nominees were Roberto Atendido, PLDT senior vice president Anabelle Chua, San Miguel Corp. vice president Amor Iliscupidez, GSIS executive vice president Omelita Tiangco, Jose Luis Javier, Cornelio Peralta and Jose Vitug.

An open-seat category is being introduced this year, according to nomination and election committee chairman Shirley Bangayan.

In this category, both the broker and nonbroker can be nominated. Only broker William Ang was nominated under the said category. This year, the PSE board will be composed of six brokers, eight nonbrokers and one representing the open-seat category. The composition will be known on May 17, which is the annual stockholders’ meeting of the bourse.
