LINGAYEN—Pangasinan
Gov. Amado Espino Jr. and Philippine National Police
(PNP) chief Avelino Razon Jr. will make the ceremonial
shots to open the Philippine Military Academy Masigasig
Class ’72 Governor’s Cup Shootfest from May 2 to 4 at
the PNP Firing Range here.
Shooters
from Metro Manila and other provinces are expected to
troop to Pangasinan to join local marksmen in the
Governor’s Cup, which is one of the highlights of this
year’s Pangasinan Pistay Dayat 2008 celebrations.
Police
Supt. Harris Fama, head of the tournament secretariat,
said the event is open to all interested parties.
Registration fee is P1,000.
Fama
added the event is a fundraising project of Espino. The
proceeds will go to the refurbishing of the provincial
PNP headquarters.
Law
enforcers coming from the PNP, the Armed Forces of the
Philippines (AFP), the National Bureau of Investigation
(NBI) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)
will have a chance to show their marksmanship in the
competitions.
Awarding
ceremony is set at 5 p.m. of May 4 at the Pangasinan PPO
Firing Range.

Amazing
Triathlon Event
THE
Amazing Triathlon Event (ATE) will also serve as one of
the highlights of this year’s Pangasinan Pistay Dayat
celebration.
Pistay
Dayat 2008 executive chairman Raffy Baraan said the
triathlon event is locally dubbed the Lumbay Langoy,
Bisikleta tan Batik. It will be held on April 30 in
different venues.
“Triathlon is an endurance sport composed of three
events, namely, swimming, cycling and marathon,” said
event coordinator Modesto Operania.
Participants will first swim from Bonuan Gueset at the
mouth of Pantal River to Pugaro in Dagupan City, then
mount their bikes from Pugaro up to the PNP
Target Range
in Lingayen and finally run a foot race to the Urduja
House Beach Front. |
