    PLDT Guardian touted as quick,
    low-cost security solution

THE PLDT (Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.) Group unveiled last week a wireless-security solution for business owners that will help them secure their facilities and prevent theft at a fraction of the traditional costs.

PLDT officials said 17,000 of the 24,000 crime incidents reported to the Philippine National Police were cases of theft and robbery.  They said there is now an innovative solution that will secure and protect the owners’ assets from unauthorized access, “inside jobs,” internal pilferages and even fire disaster.

“Clients can actually do away with heavy capital outlays for entire security systems and the burden of maintaining them,” according to PLDT first vice president and Corporate Business Group head Nerissa S. Ramos.

PLDT has partnered with security firm Guard All to create PLDT Guardian, a wireless security solution touted as more cost-effective than a traditional security system.

The system can instantly send notification alerts via wireless GPRS (general packet radio service) or back-up phone line to a 24/7 central monitoring station (CMS). The CMS then alerts authorities and the business owner of emergencies within seconds and continuously provides updates.

“We are using world-class, intrusion-detection technologies here that have been effectively integrated with the PLDT Group’s communication technologies,” said PLDT senior vice president and customer sales and marketing group head Eric R. Alberto.

Clients only need to pay a “reasonable” one-time down payment and a monthly fixed fee.

Derek Ramsey, president of Guard All, said  that unlike the conventional security systems and traditional security solutions, PLDT Guardian offers a more secure and more affordable way to protect clients’ facilities and assets.

“Traditional security systems usually give you an alarm. Most of the time, it’s too late. A security system should be a step ahead, allowing companies to act swiftly and, eventually, do post-audit,” added Ramsey.

Alberto said that with PLDT Guardian, companies get a new security solution in a bundled stand-alone package that includes sensors, alarms and detectors in a low-maintenance environment.
