UNIVERSAL Motors Corp. (UMC)—local distributor of Nissan commercial vehicles such as the Patrol Super Safari, Urvan and Frontier Navarra—hit it right when it chose the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City to showcase its newest “baby” that is now trailblazing the SUV market. For seven days, starting from March 27 up to April 2, thousands of prospective buyers and simple onlookers saw and feel firsthand the power and comfort the all-new Frontier Navara had to offer.

“This is a full week of fun and excitement as we showcase the newest and the most talked about SUV in town which is the Frontier Navara. We have lined up various events in line with this first-ever showcase of our newest vehicle. We have also test-drives where prospective buyers can drive and feel the difference of what our new SUV has to offer. We also have competition among families and many other things to enjoy the whole week of our presence here in the mall,” said Tet Bugayong of UMC during the event.

And to further perk up the affair, a 15-percent down payment was also introduced for the newest “SUV/truck” in town exclusive only during the seven-day affair, and this courtesy of the participating banks such as the Bank of the Philippine Islands, Banco de Oro, Philippine Savings Bank and Philam.

Four variants of the all-new Nissan Frontier Navara are included in the promo, and they are the 4x2 manual transmission that is being sold for P1.026 million, the 4x2 automatic at P1.076 million, the 4x4 manual at P1.339 million and the 4x4 automatic at P1.389 million.

Intimate encounter. For the first time, consumers got a closer look at the all-new Nissan Frontier Navarra, one of the most talked about sport-utility vehicles that recently went on display at the SM Mall of Asia

Among the impressive features of the all-new Frontier Navara are that it’s the first pickup with a six-speed manual transmission for smooth shifting, improved acceleration and better fuel efficiency; it has the most powerful engine in its class with the industry-leading 174 hp and 403 Nm of torque from a YD25DDti second-generation Common Rail Turbo Intercooler Diesel Engine; it has a shift-on-the-fly system that engages all-wheel mode from two-wheel drive with the twist of a dial without stopping; it is the only pickup with an eight-cross member ladder-type frame for heavy-duty hauling, greater durability and stability, as well as improved handling; and it has a reinforced rear bed to support massive cargo without crumpling.

SEEMINGLY perpetual advances in both the SUV (sport utility vehicle) and MPV (multipurpose vehicle) markets mean that to pause is to lose potential buyers. With that in mind, Mitsubishi introduced new variants of its Grandis MPV, and Pajero and Outlander SUVs.
