LUCY TORRES -GO MEZ of The Sweet Life

Q Channel 11’s Women for Others

WOMEN are quite known for their versatility in every endeavor they engage in, but what some don’t see is their selfless dedication in helping others and their community as well. Not on Q-11.

Known as the premier channel specifically designed for women, Q-11 launched its month-long Women’s Month campaign last March 3 via a series of plugs that feature a number of its female personalities with their respective advocacies. In so doing, the channel is going beyond merely celebrating women’s month but, more importantly, empowering and inspiring its viewers by bringing front and center the image of a Filipina who is extraordinary and extraordinarily selfless.

Apart from being entertainment personalities, a number of Q-11’s female hosts still opt to do more toward the betterment not only of their selves but of others as well.

Some of them are multiawarded broadcast journalist Jessica Soho (Reunions), who is an active advocate of responsible broadcast journalism; Rhea Santos (News on Q, Women’s Desk), who is involved in the “Get Caught Reading Campaign”; and Miriam Quiambao (The Beat), who extends her time in supporting the AGAPE Foundation, an organization that provides self-mastery workshops for public-school teachers, and serves as a child-labor advocate in the ABK Initiative Project of World Vision.

For several years already, Carmina Villaroel (Day Off) has been supporting the Philippine Orthopedic. Pia Guanio (Ang Pinaka), on the other hand, is active in fighting for animal rights by supporting PAWS.

Lucy Torres (The Sweet Life) is an active supporter of the Philippine National Red Cross and Project Brave Kids, a group that helps indigent children with cancer; while Lani Mercado (Moms) does her own share in preserving the environment by promoting garbage segregation, tree planting and coastal clean-ups every September of the year.

Aside from her restaurant business and hosting job, Chef Rosebud Benitez (Ka-Toque) is also involved in advocating national pride through the Yabang Pinoy organization and Kythe, an organization that sponsors pediatric-cancer care.

Catch more of these “Women for Others” only on Q-11.
