CITY OF MALOLOS—A 69-year-old American was found dead inside his parked vehicle along Macarthur Highway in barangay Pio Cruzcosa, Calumpit, Bulacan, early Tuesday morning.

Senior Supt. Allen Bantolo, Bulacan police commander, identified the victim as Orval Mikesell, married, of 9 Santos Street, Silangan, Santa Maria, Bulacan and barangay Bulihan, this city.

Mikesell was a consultant for the Tanglaw Pag-asa (Bulacan Center for Youth Offenders) in this city.

Mikesell had a gunshot wound in the head, Bantolo said.

Initial reports indicated that the bullet entered through the victim’s mouth and exited at the back of the head.

The victim was found inside his car, a silver XLT Ford Ranger with license plate ZBD-289, with a .25- caliber pistol lodged between his legs by policemen who were summoned by village watchmen who became suspicious of the seemingly abandoned vehicle in that place in the dead of night.

Bantolo explained that responding policemen reached the place shortly before 4 a.m.

Police investigators, Bantolo said, found a handwritten note on the windshield of the car with the message “Pls. contact Fe Mikesell.”

It was later learned the Fe Mikesell is the victim’s Filipino wife.

Bantolo said he is still awaiting the results of the forensic investigation conducted by the Bulacan police Scene of the Crime Operatives on the incident and explained that the incident seems to be a suicide because of the gun and handwritten note found inside the car.

He added that he has already instructed the investigation branch of the Bulacan police to conduct thorough investigation.

A psychologist, Mikesell has been providing free services to juvenile law offenders detained at the Tanglaw Pag-asa.

He was also active in helping the local government in its youth and health programs.
