    All-new Ford Escape
    Built for the daring

THE all-new Ford Escape, one of Ford’s top-selling compact SUVs, recently debuted with a fresh look, versatile and refined interior, class-leading off-road capability, and a host of standard safety features that cater to the urban SUV owner’s discriminating needs.

“We’ve taken an already great product and made it greater.  We are confident that the new Escape will appeal to a much wider audience,” says Ford Group Philippines VP for sales & marketing Luie Dy Buncio. “In particular, the new Escape is packed with a powerful engine, as well as refined exterior and interior features, giving this true SUV a very stylish urban look.”

The Escape now offers improved acceleration, take-off and more pulling power thanks to a Variable Valve Timing (VVT) on its Duratec 2.3L.

Aside from increased fuel efficiency, the DOHC 16-Valve SEFI engine generates 157 ps of power at 6,500 rpm and 203 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm.  The new powertrain, which also comes with an electronic throttle, delivers improved torque at low engine speed range and provides improved launch feel and shifting feel.  It is safer because human error is eliminated, more economical because it makes the best use of fuel delivery strategy and more convenience because gear shifting is optimized.

Whether you drive it over paved city streets or rugged country roads, the vehicle maneuvers with ease and sporty comfort.

Built with the Control Trac II 4WD system, the Escape has electronic shift-on-the-fly total four-wheel drive control, allowing you to cruise on any terrain. The MacPherson Strut Type with Stabilizer Bar on the front suspension ensures precise steering and superior handling, giving you confidence even for off-road driving.

One glance at the Escape reveals its sophisticated ruggedness, designed to meet the most active type of lifestyles. Its totally new front fascia features a chrome front grille with three horizontal bars that promote the Ford SUV DNA.  For the Escape 4x4 XLT, a Skid Plate has been added to enhance its ruggedness and provide added protection in off-road conditions.

The side-view mirrors are now equipped with turn lamp indicators. The features are a new rear combination lamp with honeycombed lens covers and LED lamps. The rear lift gate offers a separate flip-up glass panel that allows you to store and access small items. The vehicle also features a roof railing with crossbar that holds a maximum weight of 44 kilos or 100 lbs.

Inside, one will find leather seats for the 4x4 XLT variant and fabric seats for the 4x2 XLS. The rear seat on all models is split 60/40 and folds flat for added cargo capacity.

Onboard, the modern instrument panel comes with a silver metal ring, cool blue illumination, green illumination in the odometer box and panel light control to make it easy for drivers to read instrumentation for safer driving.

Also improving ease-of-use is the new and stylish center panel, featuring six in-dash CD player with MP3 capability. Seat-back trays and six cup holders make meals and snacks easy and convenient.

Safety-wise, the all-new Escape has unibody or monocoque body that allows it to absorb impact energy for enhanced occupant protection.

ABS and electronic brake force distribution add safety and stability allowing the driver in full control of the steering wheel during emergency stops over a muddy slope. A brake-assist system minimizes braking distance and aids in stopping the vehicle by compensating for weak pedal effort, thus averting accidents.

Dual airbags are fitted for the driver and front passenger along with a safety belt system and the three-point reverse parking sensors, which prevent accidental bumps when backing up.

To demonstrate Ford’s confidence in the long-term reliability and durability of its products, the Escape comes with a three-year or 100,000 kilometers warranty, giving its occupants peace of mind and protection against unforeseen costly mechanical or electrical repairs.

    The all-new Escape—available in 2.3L 4x2 A/T and 4x4 A/T variants—is available in Ford dealerships nationwide.
