Science
journalists in the country, who are members of the
Philippine Science Journalist Association Inc. (PSciJourn),
could now avail themselves of discounted medical services.
This is
made possible after officials of PSciJourn and the
Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association entered into an
agreement to provide medical services to working science
journalists at discounted costs.

PSciJourn
president Angelo Palmones, who is also dzMM’s station
manager, and Dr. James Dy, president and chairman of the
board of the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association,
recently signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) in
behalf of their organizations. The signing ceremonies were
held at the Philippine-Chinese General Hospital and
Medical Center in Manila.
The MOA is
valid for one year, subject to renewal as may be agreed by
both parties. The agreement provides that in the event
PSciJourn members need medical emergencies, the
Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association shall provide
diagnosis and treatment, including major surgeries, to the
journalists at the Philippine-Chinese General Hospital.
The
medical center shall provide 50-percent discount on room
charges and 30-percent discount on laboratory, pulmonary
and x-ray services upon presentation of proof that the
patient is a PSciJourn member. (Ramon Efren R. Lazaro) |
