    Luis & Angel dating,
    but nothing official yet

LUIS MANZANO is a very charming man. Much like his father, TV personality Edu Manzano.

He actually reminds me of the late Rico Yan. He has the same pilyo attitude and charisma that makes you wonder if he’s contemplating a career in politics soon. He also remembers people’s names in an instant and makes you instantly feel at ease with him. He has that same dorky sense of humor that Rico had. And like the much-missed actor, Luis knows how to make me blush.

For instance, during the press conference for Kremil-S where it was announced he has been renewed as its endorser, he was in pink. I told him the color looks good on him. And with that wicked grin of his, he said, “Jet, that’s not the only one that’s pink.”

Icon for the pink market is Luis Manzano? You decide.

Congratulations on your renewal. What do you think made your campaign with Kremil-S work?

It’s because they got me! (Laughs) But kidding aside, the initial campaign was about how it’s better to take Kremil-S than other known medicines to battle hyperacidity. I guess it opened people’s minds that these other medicines don’t offer a cure but just temporary relief.

You’re known to suffer from hyperacidity in real life. What was the worst attack that you’ve had?

I was in Australia once to do something in connection with TFC (The Filipino Channel) there, and I didn’t have anything to eat the whole day because the itinerary was just crazy. And then I woke up with such stomach pain. And that’s when I took it and it was almost instantly gone.

Why do you have hyperacidity? Is it because you stress so much about your life?

Yes...I’m actually manic-depressive! (Laughs) No, I can’t ask for anything more. I feel that I’m blessed because I have a good family life, a nice social life and a great career. I mean, I am in the business that I love so much. I am joining ‘Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition’ for this year, and I’m also going to do a teleserye soon. I’m still with ASAP which is so much fun to do, so I can’t ask for anything more.

Maybe you’re stressed with your love life....How are you and Angel?

Well, I don’t deny that we go out on dates, but if you’re asking if we’re in a relationship, no, we’re not. We’re enjoying each other’s company and she’s very special to me.

But I heard you introduced her to your mom (Vilma Santos) already as your girlfriend....

That’s true—and so not true. Yup, I introduced her to my mom, but not as my girlfriend. It was last Christmas and my mom is very fond of her. She thinks Angel is very nice and very sweet, both of which are true, by the way. But the last person I introduced as my girlfriend to my mom was Nancy (Castiglione).

I heard you snubbed Toni Gonzaga’s concert because you’re still hurt on why she didn’t pick you over her current boyfriend, director Paul Soriano....

Again, not true. I wasn’t able to go to her concert because I had a shoot that day.

But is all this bitterness over that relationship causing your hyperacidity?

You just had to bring it back! (Laughs) I’m happy for her, actually, that she’s got someone who loves her and whom she loves in return. I just see them together and they’re so happy. I know one day I will find that girl who will make me feel the same way.
