NETWORK Appliance Inc. (NetApp), a network storage and data management company, will soon widen its product presence in the Philippines by appointing Wordtext Systems Inc. (WSI), the country’s leading software and hardware vendor, as its sole distributor.

NetApp country sales manager Neil Ocampo expressed confidence that the partnership will sustain the company’s 40-percent year-on-year growth.

“Wordtext’s proven operational experience in delivering software and hardware products can help us to cover more and reach the needs of the rapidly developing market,” Ocampo said.

For immediate distribution of NetApp’s data-management solutions, WSI will collaborate with its more than 200 value-added resellers nationwide.

“Our efforts to sustain their (NetApp) growth will not be concentrated alone with data-intensive enterprises  distribution, we are also looking at the opportunities the SMBs (small and medium businesses) and SMEs (small and medium enterprises) can bring,” WSI assistant vice president Edwin Ocampo told BusinessMirror.

For his part, Francis Wang, NetApp’s regional sales director views the team up as a chance to enhance their market share in the region.

“Our third quarter revenue for the fiscal year of 2008 is $884 million. ASEAN revenue grew 68 percent compared to 3rd quarter of 2007,” said Wang. “By penetrating the enterprise market and SMEs immensely, our annual target may be exceeded.”

NetApp claimed its solutions is adaptable to businesses because when network storage in virtual infrastructure is deployed, vendor lock-in with multiprotocol support is avoided, thus helping customers reduce cost and complexity, minimize risk and gain the lowest total cost of ownership by 38 percent.

The Sunnyvale, California company believes the move will improve too their branding popularity along with competitors EMC and Seagate Technology.

Moreover, NetApp plans to employ two more people to add on its current four, although its workforce is small by quantity it serves customers largely thought local partners.
