The
Subaru Club Philippines (SCP) recently held its first
grand eyeball event in a spectacular fashion by parading
their Subarus right in the middle of Ayala Center.
Various generations of the Impreza WRX, STI and Forester
were at their car show best parked at The Tent in
Glorietta 3, while their owners partied with fellow
Subaru enthusiasts. The SCP is an organized group of
Subaru customers and enthusiasts and is officially
recognized by Motor Image, the exclusive distributor of
Subaru in
Southeast Asia.
Ayala Center
shoppers were treated to a display of various models of
Subaru cars that were proudly paraded by their owners
who were meeting their fellow enthusiasts as part of
club’s regular activities. It was the first time that a
private car club has held an eyeball event in Glorietta
3 and
Ayala Center
was only too willing to host such a dynamic gathering.
The
event was organized by the Subaru Club Philippine led by
its chairman Erich Lingad and club president Clifford
Certeza. Lingad and Certeza spearheaded the formation of
the Subaru Club leading to its inauguration last year.
A Subaru
Forester owner, Lingad is the manager and coowner of
International Consolidator Philippines Inc. and Adidas
Eastwood and Adidas Santa Lucia. A mountain bike and
golf enthusiast, Lingad exemplifies the dynamic
lifestyle of a typical Subaru customer who enjoys the
outdoors together with his Forester.
Certeza,
on the other hand, is a self-confessed adrenalin junkie
who delves into the world of speed with his arsenal of
machines—a scooter, a jetski, a personal plane and his
Subaru Impreza WRX STi. When not wearing his hats as the
chairman of the Certeza Group of Companies and as a
certified technical diving instructor, he is the
moderator and also the founder of the official club web
site, subaruclub.ph, which went online months before
SCP’s inauguration. The web site has since become the
club’s source of information and forum for
communication.
Both men
believe that the main driving force of the club is the
passion of its members for their Subaru vehicles. “SCP
brings together passionate Subaru owners and promotes
enjoyable and safe driving of their vehicles” Lingad
said. Certerza, on the other hand, explained that the
club is more than just about cars. “More than just a
venue for sharing information on anything just about
Subaru, we also aim to foster fun and friendly
relationships among members and their families.”
The
Subaru Club
Philippines
is officially recognized by Motor Image Pilipinas, the
exclusive distributor of the Japanese sports-luxury auto
brand in the country. Motor Image Pilipinas general
manager Nicky Mariano explained the reason for the
company’s support. “We are very happy to see these
proud Subaru owners and we believe they best represent
what our brand stands for. We recognize our customers as
our brand ambassadors that will carry Subaru to a
greater reach of the market” Mariano added.
All
Subaru owners are qualified to join the Subaru Club
Philippines. Members get invitations to exclusive club
activities such as eyeball gatherings, road trips, track
days and family events. Motor Image will also be
extending special discounts for parts and accessories to
the club. Members will also get special discounts from
selected bars, restaurants and shops affiliated with the
club. Details of membership application and club
