COCO-BIODIESEL manufacturer Chemrez Technologies Inc.
said on Tuesday that it has started exporting its
BioActiv premium coco-biodiesel to the European Union’s
(EU) Germany. The shipments were of commercial
quantities after several trial deliveries last year.
“BioActiv’s successful entry into the German market
comes after several trial shipments to Rotterdam in The
Netherlands, which is the entry port for oil shipments
into [the EU],” said Dean Lao Jr. the company chief
operating officer.
This
development is an affirmation of the quality of coco-biodiesel
that Chemrez produces, the type that even surpasses
DIN-EN-14214 — which is the EU’s specification standards
for biodiesel, according to the Chemrez official.
BioActiv coco-biodiesel is a diesel replacement that is
compliant with Euro3 fuel standards. Philippine diesel
is only Euro1 compliant.
Lao said
the shipments were made to ChemSynergy AG, Chemrez
Tech’s exclusive marketing agent in Europe. ChemSynergy
is a trading company specializing in oleochemicals,
including biodiesel.
ChemSynergy supplies biodiesel to German fuel
distributors and some oil companies for blending with
petro-diesel. Fuel distributors generally supply fleet
accounts.
Lao said
ChemSynergy has reported that some fleet accounts in
Germany even use 100-percent biodiesel as fuel for their
vehicles, as biodiesel is tax-exempted Germany.
After
the commercial shipments to Germany, Lao said the
company is now planning to improve its distribution
channels over there so that Chemrez can expand its
European presence and eventually spread out to Italy,
Spain, France and Belgium as these countries already
have mandates for the use of biodiesel.
He said
ChemSynergy is planning to lease storage tanks and other
facilities in Rotterdam, where clients can draw their
requirements almost immediately instead of waiting for
shipments to come all the way from the
Philippines.
BioActiv
has distinguished itself, passing with flying colors
over stringent quality tests in
Germany
and Japan. Other biodiesel products from Malaysia,
Indonesia and even the Philippines have failed the same
tests.
“One of
the main strengths of BioActiv is its very low cold
filter plug point, or its stability [in] cold weather.
While the more popular palm oil-based biodiesel
solidifies at 12 degrees Celsius, BioActiv has been
shown to remain liquid at way below the freezing point
of water with a cold filter plug point of -8 degrees
Celsius,” Lao said. |
