The past
few weeks have seen motorists plying the South Luzon
Expressway (Slex) getting intrigued with the change of
Exit 41’s name, from ABI-Greenfield to “Eton City.”
Signages along the road and the toll rate boards now carry
the name “Eton City-Greenfield exit,” eliciting curiosity
on what type of development this supposed “city” will turn
out to be.
Those in the know, however, are already
anticipating the unveiling of such a development, since
the name Eton can easily be associated with one of the
most dynamic real-estate players in the country today—Eton
Properties Philippines Inc.
Situated right along the expressway, in an
area between the exit after Sta. Rosa and before the town
of Cabuyao, Eton City is seen as a viable landmark
project, considering it has the best location down south
of Manila. In the future, Eton City residents don’t need
to endure long travel hours just to get to their place of
work.
The outstanding master plan jointly
conceptualized by RTKL, a Baltimore-based consultant, and
NS Mangio & Associates, will ensure modern living
requirements are achieved while preserving the rich
natural and local flavors of the area. In effect, Eton
City is being touted as the “New Makati of the South.”
Alex E. Jazmines, Eton Properties
assistant vice president and project general manager for
Eton City, said the development is a large-scale,
mixed-use township project occupying close to 1,000
hectares of prime land surrounding Slex.
Jazmines explained that South Lake is the
first horizontal project of Eton Properties, which is why
they went to great lengths to ensure that it will appear
very innovative. “What we’re launching is something that
no developer has done yet in the Philippines,” he said.
South Lake was inspired by similarly
themed developments around the world, including Foster
City in San Francisco, California; Riversong in Shanghai;
and the world-class Jumeirah, The World and The Palms in
Dubai. All these developments feature thriving residential
communities that are surrounded by bodies of water and
boast of a unique, refreshing and well-appointed
lifestyle.
“This 150-hectare project will feature a
35-hectare man-made lake that will house about 18 islands.
Each island, which is approximately one hectare in size,
will have an average of 10 lots, measuring about 1,000 sq
m each. This is the only project of its kind in the
Philippines
that will offer not only lakefront lots but actual ‘island
lots’ and ‘island homes,’” Jazmines explained.
The islands will be highly exclusive and
secure since they will be connected with the main land
through land bridges and not to other islands. Live rivers
also surround the area, so the source of water will be one
less worry for future residents. To preserve the condition
of the man-made lake, gas-driven boats will not be allowed
on the water—only kayaks and electric boats can be used
by residents, who also get to build their own private
dock.
One other dream luxury which the project
can afford to lot buyers is the chance to buy and own an
entire island. “If you buy the whole island, which has
eight to 12 lots, then you get to have naming rights on
your own island,” Jazmines confirmed.
Other components of Eton City that will
surround South Lake are the Central Business District, an
18-hole championship golf course with golf village, a
country club, shopping mall, resort, hotel and casino, and
other residential enclaves such as condominium
communities.
South Lake will be formally launched this
month, but the buzz has been nonstop for weeks now, with a
growing number of people expressing interest. “Our
potential buyers are already excited and they want to find
out which lots they can choose,” Jazmines said.
