THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Thursday said those taxpayers required to enroll under the eFPS (electronic filing and payment system) should complete their e-Payment registration not later than June 15.
Taxpayers who were required to enroll under eFPS have been allowed to electronically file their returns but manually pay through their authorized agent banks (AABs), because it takes more than a month to activate the registration in the e-Payment program.
The BIR reiterated that taxpayers, particularly those included in the taxpayer account-management program (TAMP), have until June 15, to complete the e-Payment registration.
Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Jacinto-Henares issued Revenue Memorandum Circular 18-2015 to remind the taxpayers obligated to enroll under eFPS to complete the registration within the deadline, or face penalties and surcharges imposed under Revenue Regulations 5-2015.
The prescribed penalty, which is P1,000 for each noncompliant return, plus a surcharge of 25 percent of the tax due, shall be imposed if the registration under eFPS is not completed by June 15, even though the taxes due had already been paid manually by April 15.
“For taxpayers who are newly enrolled to eFPS [e.g. ,TAMP taxpayers] whose registration with AABs has not been completed, as it takes more than a month with the banks to activate the registration in ePayment, shall electronically file their returns and shall manually pay through the AABs/revenue collection officers not later than April 15, 2015, following existing procedures,” the circular said.
“The said taxpayers should complete their e-Payment registration and must comply with e-File and e-Pay on all succeeding returns not later than June 15, 2015,” the circular added.
